The secret club of cousins comes to order

The Gruffalo's Child

We decided to make the film of "The Gruffalo's Child". This is Annika as the Big Bad Mouse. Unfortunately, the Gruffalo's child (Bronte), was not interested in performing, or in anyone else taking her role, so the production has gone into temporary hiatus.

Zach is now very proficient at rolling to get to where he wants. And he is pretty happy not to be sick anymore.

Making Pizzas with the cousins


As a special treat, the cousins stayed the night. They all slept in Bronte's room. After going to bed at the respectable 8:00, all was quiet - woohoo! however, going past the room at 9:15, Bronte was sitting in the middle of her two cousins, wide awake, looking at her two sleeping cousins. hmmm.

Helping Nanna

Our job on Fridays is to plant the new lavenders in Nanna's garden. You can see our successful planting of the week before in the top right corner.

Fun with Poppy

This is the post-escape photo: earlier in the day, Poppy (the puppy), who was hanging out with Nanna, decided to race down to the river, forcing Nanna to chase her down the street in her slippers. As you can see, the story all turned out ok - both Nanna and Poppy survived, and Bronte got to play with Poppy for the day.

Home alone

Mum had an important work meeting, so granddad was enlisted to look after Zach. Coming home to a sleeping, happy baby is a wonderful thing. Thank you Granddad!

Southbank adventures

Three adults - four children = achievable. We had a lovely day in at Southbank with Ava and Finn. Despite the chilly 23 degrees (...) the girls went swimming in the mostly deserted pools.




Zach enjoyed just hanging out while his sister played in the playground.


Finishing off with a hot chocolate from Max Brenner. By this stage, Bronte was well beyond being civil, but still managed to eat her icecream (through tears).

The second game of women's frisbee at New Farm Park. Given that this was underwater not too long ago, is it wrong to wish for some more rain on it? Bronte showed she has some frisbee style.

Bottom of the hill

We caught up with another school friend - whose second girl is the same age as Finn. Both were able to get to the top of the hill, while Zach could only rotate around at the bottom.

Poking out

Zach works very hard to catch your eye - and when he does, he proceeds to poke his tongue out at you. Very cute, and very funny.

Stuffing around

Occasionally Bronte gets a chocolate milkshake in a small bottle. Those bottles are then filled with plain milk, and consumed on the way to kindy. Dad then takes the remainder of the milk and stores it at work with the intention of bringing it back to Bronte in the afternoon. But he always forgets. Always. So today, when Dad forgot yet again to bring the milk home, Bronte exclaimed:

"You are stuffing me around with those milkshakes!".

She is turning into the mistress of the one-liners.

Big cuddles

Zach loves to cuddle - he presses his face in tight against your cheek, and puts his arms around you. It is a lovely thing.

Zach has worked out that pulling the rug gets items on the rug closer. He is starting to show frustration at not been as mobile as he would like.

5 months

This is a fairly good photo summary of the month - snotty and dribbly. This month, Zach has learnt to roll onto his tummy, pass a toy from one hand to another, and has started on solids. He continues to love baths, but hate getting dressed after them. Sleep is still pretty average - with some very bad nights (every 40 minutes awake) alongside some ok ones (every 2-3 hours awake). He has anticipation, and starts to giggle when you come in for a rasberry. He loves to cuddle by pressing his cheek close into yours, and he LOVES to bounce. Loves it.

Well, sort of - at least for a few seconds, or until he gets distracted by something off to the side.

Blonde with a touch of ginger

After coming out with nearly black hair, the new hair coming through is blonde, with a touch of red - very handsome!

3 years, 2 months

Hop! Bronte can now hop! she also holds a pen correctly, and her drawings have improved, though her paintings are still a swirl of colours upon colours. She can now completely dress and undress herself, and has a strong preference for skirts and leggings at the moment. We continue to be amazed at her language skills, and her sense of humour makes us laugh every day. This photo is at the party at Dad's work - she thinks that his work is like that all the time, and requests to go back there.

Flashback

On mums birthday, and as Zach hits this age, a trip back in time. This is mum at 5 months old. Crawling and climbing out of the cot... Thankfully Zach not taking after mum in that regard.

Food glorious food!

The plan is to have solids for lunch to prepare Zach for mum going back to work. Zach likes the plan.

Escape to the cousins

While the house got a very-much needed clean, we headed over for a play with the cousins. Annika played with Bronte, Gabby played with Zach, and mum got to have a cup of tea and relax.
