After the usual animal visits we finally ventured out to one of the walks around walkabout creek - a great (and Zach-easy) hike around Enoggera dam.

At the shops
Zach wanted to wear it to the shops, but I do confess to being a mum that thinks costumes on kids are pretty cute.
Too much roaring tires a boy out.

Party time!
Bronte's "Butterflys and Bugs" 5th birthday party was a big success. That huge pile of fairy snails (thanks Liz!) got demolished, as did all the red biscuit lady bugs (thanks al!). Up further were the caterpillar grapes (thanks Jenny!). Bubbles were swotted fiercely - but thankfully, only bubbles, and faces were painted by the wonderful cousin Annika. Though most of the kids requested to be a vampire bug (note them all around the cake).

Scooter kids
The plan was to head to the park for a scooter and a birthday / mothers day picnic. But the rain forced movement to the Aldi ramps and an excellent display of scooter skills.
Happy Birthday Bronte!
Happy Birthday my beautiful girl. What a wonderful mother's day present.
Bronte received both her birthday requests: boots (gotten in Melbourne), and a two-wheel scooter. Which she absolutely flies on.

Our first "real" fete
We have been regular attendees at the Ashgrove fete for year, but this year, we truly belonged. Bronte had a class artwork up for silent auction, while I helped out on the fishing stand (a highly recommended stand: unlike the fairy floss one).

The long delayed fire truck cake
I had promised Zach a fire engine cake for his birthday. Which hadn't quite gotten made - until now. It turned into more of a fire truck than a fire engine, but - it was a winner for Zach, who knew exactly how the "birthday song" game went - rapidly blowing his candle out at the end of it.
I have an idea!
Zach's latest saying is "I have an idea!" complete with finger pointing in the air. Examples of his ideas include:
-> lets jump really high! (on the trampoline)
-> lets go downstairs
-> lets sit on the garbage truck
-> lets play hide and seek
You must admit - they are good ideas.
He has also grasped the concept of the knock knock joke, though only has one joke. It goes like this:
Knock knock
who's there?
Fairy
Fairy who?
Fairy wand!!
And his answer to most questions at the moment is "roof". For example,
what would you like for lunch?
ummm - roof!
It is like being in anchorman. "I love roof". "I love stool". "I love pencil".
I have tried to get him to say "I love lamp" but no success yet.

Bushwalking
Bronte has been sick, and the house has been tired, so we headed out for some fresh air and a bushwalk at bellbird grove. A pretty nice place to have at the end of your street.
